I didn't expect to be as spooked as I was. Excellent job, devs! I'm kind of a sucker for the graphical style of these games though so I'm a bit biased, but I adored it. The ambience, the setting, loved it all. Super excited to see what you put out in the future as this one was absolutely amazing.
This was a fun experience that got darker and darker as the game went on, the retro console style graphics really add to the atmosphere and the game has really immersive sounds that really bring you into the game.
There is a rich cult vibe in this game that is a joy to experience that is definitely worth a play.
saw the positive comments here and a friend also told me this is 1 of the best horrors on this site so i decided to give it a try, fully agree this had everything, absolutely scared the nipples off me!
Although game is NOT perfect in any way, it was easialy the best out of these 3 in terms of scariness and quality. I was completely lost all the time and those branch creaks always had me on the edge and my skin on chicken mode. Deserves to have much more atention and work on it and make the world shit their pants from start to finish! It is the last of the 3 games in this video. Well done!
IMO this is easily one of the scariest games on itch.io. Initially it's not clear what direction to go when you start the game, and depending on where you wander you could see different things that can heighten the tension before even reaching the house. The sound design really deserves some praise here. From beginning to end everything you hear is very well done and sounds believable. Really loved this game!
Sets a more terrifying tone in 10 minutes than most AAA horror titles achieve in 10 hours. Like many others have said this is what A Blair Witch game should be like. Fantastic!
Absolutely awesome game! First time I have been spooked by an indie horror game in a while! Loved it, loved the atmosphere, and loved the blair witch vibe.
not bad, but being a ps1 style game I expected it to run smoothly on my pc but I could barely run through the woods, this seems to be inspired by blair witch. also add battery and recording time overlay so it looks like a found footage.
Hey buddy, you should probably learn how Elder Futhark works before you implement it in your game. That backwards Thurisaz isn't a real rune. Also, more than half of the runes you used were not inverted and they're runes that symbolize protection so...good job kiddo.
The amount of time I almost SH*T my pants is unbelievable. this was definitely scary. the ambient gives you a unsettling vibe especially while a girl is screaming for help. this is one of the scariest games i have played in a long time.
Terrifying screams lead you to a strange location. There's horror lurking in these woods. But you must locate the house. Something terrible is about to happen. Find the house fast and don't turn back!
So I didn't read the description before playing so I didn't know it was inspired by TBWP. It's crazy because just a couple of days prior to recording this, I had watched TBWP since it had been a while since my first viewing on the film. Either way, this was fantastic and hopefully you can expand on this. This short game alone was better than the actual Blair Witch game we got.
Hey there Devs! Congratulations on this game. For a game that was made in just a couple of days, The House In The Woods looks and feels great. Actually, I've made a video playing this game with hilarious reactions. I hope you enjoy. Keep the good work!
I had the privilege to play the original version and the updated one post jam. Holy cow man, the update gave me chills. The first one was good, but you took everything to the next level. I honestly would love to see more of this, or even more in your style!
Nice job on the game! I liked the wandering aimlessly in the woods. It gave a great start to feeling hopeless. I think the old bit style enhanced the game play which is a nice touch. I look forward to any more games you make in the future!
Quick question was that me in the corner looking at myself?

Fantastic game!
edit: It didn't occur to me until after uploading I completely bypassed a lot of stuff in the woods XD
Woops. Great game nonetheless.
This game had me on edge throughout my whole play through, I am so impressed with this game!
Absolutely awesome game! First time I have been spooked by an indie horror game in a while! Loved it, loved the atmosphere, and loved the blair witch vibe.
really cool, perhaps a bit scary for me, but I enjoyed this guys playthrough:
I really loved the theme of this game. Felt like how what the Blair Witch games were supposed to be.
Great game. Loved the atmosphere and the retro vibes.

best game I’ve played on I itch.io! Would love more content from y’all!
VERY NICE GAME! :D it continues?
Greetings from Germany <3

Thanks Dad!
I don't think it is very important here. It is only a game not a RUNE teaching turotial.
I hate houses... in woods... and THIS... is exactly that :d
I'm the exact opposite. The idea of living in a house in the woods or forest sounds intriguing.
As long as it ain't a haunted house, i'm good :d
You may need a diaper towards the end... just a heads up LOL

Honestly, it is worth the play! Good scares!!!
Keep running until you found the house, Very nice game, Got the chills in the end.
Had lots of fun losing my sh*t
good job.
got chills.
This game really did a good job of creeping
me out, great work devs.
So good! Please feel free to watch my playthrough / like subscribe :)
Although short, it was easily better than the official Bliar Witch game that came out in 2019.

This game was awesome! The map looks incredible and the story line keeps you on the edge of the chair the whole way! Great job guys!

It is great.
Fantastic. One of the best games to come out of the jam, if not the best.

Quick question was that me in the corner looking at myself?
I must say, I loved this game!
There was some serious attention to detail. I loved how the environments changed. It was really difficult to know what to expect.
The animation at the end was first class. I was completely wowed by it.
You chose the right moments to run with a scare or hold back. It felt like you had a very mature sense of horror pacing.
The Blair Witch influence is there, but it's not on the nose. This doesn't feel like a 'Blair Witch' game, it feels like its own thing.
Well done! I'm excited to see what your next project is.
Gave it a go...
